Of Lovely Fans & Lunch!
August 8, 2008
The Lethbridge Scarlet Pumpernickels extended an invitation to area Red Hatters to join them for lunch at Parkside Inn along with a request we make “ladies fans”.
Thirty Red Hatters responded from the Arrowwood Prairie Angels, Vulcan Trekkies, Coaldale Summer Wine, Claresholm Country Angels, Lavender & Lace of Lethbridge and Chief Mountain Southern Belles of Cardston.
With our Royal Colors and exquisite fans fashioned from Peacock Feathers to Plastic Forks (Yes! Was quite lovely). With such a beautiful array of fans, the judge had a difficult decision to choose a winner for the prize…an envelope of gift certificates from Tim Horton’s. The winner was Queen Clydine of Prairie Angels with her Peacock Feather Fan fashioned upon a paint stick! It was quite unique!
Naturally we have to have our pictures taken and this time we snapped them of each Chapter individually. We all keep scrapbooks or albums of our “events” so everyone comes with camera in hand with many candid shots being taken while we chatted, waved our fans and lunched for two hours which makes us very happy Red Hatters! We thank Lady Barb and her Scarlet Pumpernickel Chapterettes for their thoughtful invitation to join them in a shared lunch and much laughter!
As some Red Hatters moved on to shopping or other obligations, the Prairie Angels, Vulcan Trekkies and your’s truly, went to the mall for shopping and the movie “Mama Mia” and what an exhilarating, funny movie it was, we all left in very high spirits but not before one more picture of all our enthusiasm was taken!
To end this fun filled afternoon, it was time for the Chief Mountain Southern Belles to gather at hostess Countess of Calm Kia’s home to discuss our upcoming trip to Spokane, Washington and another Red Hat Convergence. Any time we have an event of this size, there are always details to attend to. We have rented a bus and 48 Red Hatters from the surrounding area and Calgary too will be accompanying us on our journey. Each Chapter also takes a heavily laden basket of gifts and we do try to have items from our area included, to be given as door prizes throughout the weekend festivities. Each day is a different theme thereby urging us to decide which of our many hats to wear along with choice of clothing. Times for the bus pickup were announced for Cardston, Lethbridge and Ft. Macleod and will be placed on the Lethbridge Red Hat website.
After a day as full as this has been we welcomed the trays of delicious sweets and iced coffee Countess of Calm provided us. We do love our desserts!
We are making life all that it can be to connect and support women in pursuit of Fun, Friendship, Freedom & Fulfillment and we do it so well with each of our Red Hat events!
