At our February gathering of these Red Hatters that Matter, we realized we are never too old to learn and who better to teach us than a Red Hat Sister.
This gathering was held in the home of our hostess Countess of Harmony and true to her usual Red Hat Fashion sense, her home was decorated with her collection of Red Hat items. Asked where she had got all of those wonderful items…. seems her daughter lives in a town where there is a Red Hat Store!! Need we say more?
Great gifts for all occasions for a Red Hatter! Lucky Lady!
On to the lighter side, our Countess had set up several areas we could work in teams to learn what this night would bring. Lotions, mixing the ingredients, cooking, beating then pouring in bottles was actually quite fun and we got it all into those little bottle tops without too much fuss and the best part, if we spilled, just scooped it up and rubbed into our hands and arms! Nice!
Now the soap was mixed, cooked and poured into molds so that was an easy project and not very messy at all. But getting them out of the molds at the end of the evening presented a little challenge. However, I will tell you that making those soap BOMBS was absolutely hilarious and without a doubt the messiest fun!! We had it all over everywhere, table, ourselves and our Countess of Harmony’s floor too! Everyone got to choose their own scent and color and although hands and fingers were coated with food coloring, we were a little more careful with that.
Not much teaching was involved, just to guide us as our Countess had printed sheets for us to read with instructions how to do all these fun projects, but we sure did learn a lot!
Too many cook’s did not spoil the brew and one is never too old to learn!
If that wasn’t enough to entertain us…
After cleaning up we then moved on to the table set up with beads. Of yes, we made earrings, bracelets, hat pins too as we do have to use pins to help hold our beautiful Red Hats on our heads in these So. Alberta winds!
All of this transpired with our usual fun and hilarity when we Red Hatters get together and then we were treated to a buffet of tasty morsels and dessert of course!! All evening we had been indulging in Countess of Harmony’s mulled cider or tea she serves during cold weather to warm us and it was cold outside!
Seven Red Hatters and a guest were thoroughly entertained, educated and enjoyed all the interesting projects with many thanks to our hostess.
In Fun & Hilarity,
Queen Mum Sandy!
